Roland Nuñez
Roland began his service to Scouting in Longhorn Council in Fort Worth, Texas, when the three oldest of his five sons became Scouts in 1998. He has held the positions of Assistant Webelos Leader, Assistant Cubmaster, Cubmaster, Committee Chairman, Pack Trainer, and Tiger Den Leader, and is currently a Cub Scout Den Leader for Pack 301. Roland currently serves as Scoutmaster of Troop 1776 in Amarillo, Texas.
He implemented the new National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) syllabus for the Golden Spread Council, launching the council’s first NYLT course in 2006, and continued to serve as Scoutmaster and Course Director for the 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 courses. He served as Scoutmaster for the Council’s National Jamboree Troop in 2005 and now serves as advisor for the 2010 National Jamboree contingent troop.
Roland participated in Wood Badge course SR-347 at Philmont, earning his beads in 2002, and the recent Wood Badge SR-997 course in the Golden Spread Council. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and has been an Arrowman since 2000. He has been awarded the Cubmaster Award, Cub Scouter Award, Tiger Den Leader Award, Cub Scout Den Leader Award, Boy Scout Leader’s Training Award, and the District Award of Merit.
Roland’s wife and five sons are all active in Scouting, and the two oldest have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Roland and his family are active members at Tascosa Road Fellowship Church, where he helps to lead praise and worship services and sings in the choir.
