The Golden Spread Council is excited to offer Internet
Rechartering to your unit. This method for rechartering will make
the whole process easier because youll be completing the charter
renewal information yourself which ensures that it will be correct and
you can do it from your home or office, anytime that its convenient
for you.
Here is how it works:
A representative for each unit will be identified as the renewal processor.
This individual will use the Internet Charter Renewal system to identify
returning members, add new members, and update information for an individual
or the chartered organization.
Your unit's renewal processor will need to have access to Microsoft
Internet Explorer browser in order for this application to work. They
can access the Internet with AOL, but they must open Internet Explorer
browser to view the page correctly.
Each district of the council will conduct a training session on Internet
Rechartering. Some districts will incorporate this into their Roundtable
program plan, while others may hold specific sessions to share the information
on this important task. The renewal processor from each unit must be
in attendance, and complete the training.
Additionally, a tutorial and on-line help resources are available. See below.
To renew your unit charter on-line:
Sixty days before your unit's expiration date, select a renewal processor.
This should be someone in your unit who is familiar with the members
and leaders of your unit to ensure all information provided through
the process is correct. This person also needs access to the internet
using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The renewal processor attends the district training session to learn
about Internet Rechartering.
Your unit charter renewal packet is distributed to the unit leadership
as it has been in the past, but includes an access code specifically
assigned to your unit. It will not include a Charter Renewal Application.
Thirty to forty-five days before your unit's expiration date, the renewal
processor clicks Recharter Now on this webpage and begins the process.
When the on-line process is completed, the renewal processor prints
the completed charter renewal application.
The Unit Leader (Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, or Crew Advisor) and the Chartered
Organization Executive sign the charter renewal application. The signed
application along with any individual applications for new youth members
or adult leaders, and materials received in the charter renewal packet,
(such as the Quality Unit application), and all appropriate fees, should
then be brought to the Council Service Center, or your district's charter
turn-in meeting.
We encourage you to check out this new process. A tutorial is now available
for you to see how it works. See below.
From evaluations submitted by renewal processors,
the Internet Rechartering application has been enhanced. A new feature
that allows the renewal processor to "promote" registrants
is now included. The Promotion process will allow one of three options:
- Promote age and grade eligible youth
from one unit to another, generally from pack to troop, troop to team,
or team to crew.
- Promote an adult from one unit to another
- Promote an eligible youth to an adult leader position.
Remember
to add $1.00 per person (Youth and Adults) for insurance to the total
you send into the Scout Office with your recharter.
Unit Charter Fee is $20.00 (a Unit is a Pack, Troop, Crew or Team)
(Adult and Youth Registration is $15.00), and/or (Boy's Life is $12.00), (Scouter Mag. is Free for Adults).
So......
Youth price is $16.00 or $28.00 if they get Boy's Life.
Adult price is $16.00 and they get Scouter Magazine or $28.00 and they will also get Boy's Life.
